The Meadow at Lafayette Park in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights was the perfect setting for a Gigi and Zack’s summer wedding ceremony. The park is situated at the top of Nob hill tucked behind the curving tree line just a short climb up the stone stairs from the Gough street entrance. When I joined the couple for a site visit we roamed the meadow together and talked about ideas for their ceremony. We all noticed the curvilinear outlines of the pathways and stone walls and remarked on the shape of the meadow itself. I suggested a Moongate circle arch to frame their ceremony and we all agreed it would be a natural structure to compliment the setting.
Gigi and Zack fell in love with the timeless character of the San Francisco University Club and were especially smitten with the historic library showcasing a collection of rare and unique titles, floor to ceiling bookshelves and worn green leather couches. They imagined a subtle look for their wedding decor bringing forward deep emerald greenery and crisp white floral blooms to illuminate the vintage vine wall paper and dark wood architecture.
The key to subtle is adding delicate and understated details to the most prominent features in the room. We wanted to make the fireplace the focal point when guests entered the reception and we added smilax vines to all the chandeliers to pull the room together. Not much, just a touch of cascading greenery and the room came alive with fairytale flair.
